Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, flat surface.

  1. Connect to Network: Use the included Ethernet cable. Plug one end into the LAN port on the phone and the other into your network jack.
  2. Connect a Computer (Optional): Use a second Ethernet cable from the PC port on the phone to your computer's network port.
  3. Apply Power: The phone will power on via PoE from your network switch. If PoE is not available, connect the optional AC power adapter to the DC port and an electrical outlet.
  4. Connect Handset: Plug the coiled handset cord into the jack marked with a handset icon on the phone base.
  5. Connect Headset (Optional): Plug a wired headset into the RJ9 headset port.

WARNING! Use only the provided or Mitel-approved power adapter. Ensure cables are routed to prevent tripping hazards.

First-Time Setup

The phone will attempt to boot and obtain network configuration via DHCP.

  1. Initial Boot: Wait for the phone to complete its startup sequence. The display will show provisioning status.
  2. Check Network Registration: The top line of the display should show your extension number or "Registered" once configured by your phone system.
  3. Set Preferences: Press the "Settings" softkey or navigate via the MENU button. Configure language, time/date format, ring tones, and display contrast.
  4. Program Keys: Use the web configuration interface (accessed via the phone's IP address) or the phone's menu to assign functions (line, speed dial, BLF, etc.) to the 12 programmable keys.

CAUTION! Do not unplug the phone during firmware upgrades as indicated on the display.

Connecting Devices

  2. Use Cat 5e or better Ethernet cables for Gigabit performance.
  3. For headset operation, configure the phone's audio path via the "User Preferences > Audio" menu.

Tip: The PC port provides a network pass-through, eliminating the need for a separate cable run to the desktop computer.

Basic Call Handling

Making a Call: Lift handset or press HANDSFREE. Dial number using the keypad, or press a programmed line/speed dial key. Press the DIAL softkey or wait for auto-dial.

  1. Answering a Call: Lift handset, press HANDSFREE, press the ANSWER softkey, or press the flashing line key.
  2. Ending a Call: Replace handset or press the ENDCALL softkey or HANDSFREE key.
  3. Hold: Press the HOLD softkey or dedicated HOLD key. To retrieve, press the RESUME softkey or the line key with a slow-flashing red LED.
  4. Mute: Press the MUTE key (LED lights when active). Press again to disable.
  5. Volume Adjustment: Use the VOLUME UP/DOWN keys during a call to adjust handset, speaker, or ringer volume.
  6. Redial: Press the REDIAL softkey or dial ** to call the last dialed number.

WARNING! Emergency calls (e.g., 911) may require specific configuration. Consult your system administrator.

Advanced Features

Call Transfer (Blind): During a call, press TRANSFER. Dial the transfer target number. Press TRANSFER again to complete the transfer before the target answers.

Call Transfer (Attended/Consultative): During a call, press TRANSFER. Dial the transfer target and wait for them to answer. Announce the call, then press TRANSFER again to complete.

Conference Call: During the first call, press CONFERENCE. Dial the second party and wait for answer. Press CONFERENCE again to join all parties.

Call Forwarding: Press the FORWARD softkey or access via Menu > Call Settings. Set Forward All to a destination number.

Programmable Keys: Configure via web interface for Busy Lamp Field (BLF), Speed Dials, Call Park, or other system features.

Care & Cleaning

Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or sprays directly on the phone.

CAUTION! Never allow liquid to enter the phone through openings such as the keypad, handset ports, or vents.
